i m new user can any one tell me how can i install Linuxes on my dell 9300 1.6ghz 512ram Pentium M laptop?

1. allegedly, there are some versions of linux that can run inside windows (DSL Damn Small Linux) i have recently purchased versions of this software, but have yet to try them... maybe on a rainy day this summer... you can buy it for cheap, www.cheapbytes.com ...they got other interesting stuff...
2. go here: http://www.linuxlinks.com/Distributions/ it is a list of all versions of Linux available, most are free. Ubuntu is the latest that alot of people like. Looks kind of like Windows and works simialarly, NOT exactly though.
3. First thing is to make sure your first boot is the cd rom drive then place your ISO linux disk in the cd rom drive.. You have not said what version you have let me know and then I can help you with it... Now it will be a live cd.. meaning it will boot from the cd and will not install.. you will be able to play with what ever version of linux you have... until you get used to it. play with it for a week at least...
