Can you switch a celeron m processor for a pentium m centrino?
I have a hp pavilion dv 1000 & it came with a celeron m processor but some of the same exact computers even same model # came with a pentium m centrino can I switch to the pentium m?

- It depends solely on your motherboard's specifications. If the model numbers are same [most likely] you have a match. Run a program called CPU-Z (google it), on the about tab, save a log file and email it to me and I will make sure for you if you are nervous.
- Only way you can switch is to return the Laptop and get a new one with Pentium m processor. Other way is ( which might be costly) is to take your box to some place and get the processor replaced. This may cost you big bucks. I am assuming you have bought a new one. Many stores have this policy, if you return under specific interval of time you can exchange. Good luck

- Weather Geek you're in the wrong category! ;-) Yes you can switch to Pentium M. The Celeron M is nearly the same processor except the L2 cache and has a little bit lower clock frequency, but the same 478 socket and therefore it will fit. Keep in mind that you need some skills and knowledge to replace a CPU. In case you replace it, the mainboard recognise the new CPU automatically due to the CPUID (an internal CPU type code) and you haven't to change any settings.
