What is the different between pentium M and Centrino? Which is the latest among these 2?
I have a IBM X31 which run on Centrino and a X40 which runs on pentium M. So Pentium M is latest?

- Centrinos can be based on Intel's Core technology, and Core is much better than Pentium M, but without more detail I cannot say what you are referring to. Having looked into the laptops, they are a fair bit older. The X31 only has 256MB RAM, whereas the X40 has 512MB, so unless you are able to adjust these, I would advise the X40
- Centrino is not a processor but a combination of mobile technology ie wireless card, Pentium m ect.
- See Wikipedia for stuff like this, it will generally have good information (and a lot of detail). Centrino appears to refer to the "package", which initially contained a Pentium M chip. More recent Centrino packages will contain a newer Intel chip, not Pentium M. Follow these links for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centrino http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentium_m Hope that helps.
- Centrino mobile is the better than Pentium M. Pentium M is considered antiquated at this point.

- As others say Centrino isn't a cpu is a platform or a combination of a cpu, chipset and wireless device. PentiumM was part of that platform. You will have to investigate which cpu is in each laptop and then do a little bit of research on the net to see which one is better.
- Intel Centrino is the latest since it is being widely used by Compaq and HP laptops. Your IBM X40 has an older version of processor.
