What motherboard can I buy to replace the factory motherboard of my Emachine T2958?
Recently the motherboard of my Emachine T2958 went bad for unknown reasons. The hdd, dvd d, cd d, and other components are fine. I just need to replace the motherboard. Can anybody tell me what other motherboard would be compatible with this type of computer? If you need any specific info about the computer just go to google and search for "Emachine T2958. Thanks

- I would take a look at these boards http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010200280+1070622728&Configurator=&Subcategory=280&description=&Ntk=&srchInDesc= Not sure if you added a new graphics card or just used the integrated one. If not, use any of them. If you did upgrade, make sure you get one with the slot.
- If you want to reuse your eMachine box you will need to look that the motherboard you are buying has the same layout to fit the box. By that I mean the USB, audio, video, and other input devices in the rear part of your box. Some times you can just take the metal plate off so any motherboard can fit inside. Look at the motherboard inputs so you can understand what I'm saying. With regards to what motherbord, you will need to make some decisions of which motherboard can take the old components and which components need to be replaced with new ones. Usually I just buy a new computer, so I don't have any suggestions on motherboards. I do frequently update my components. Cheers!
- eMachines T2958 Desktop PC (2.66 GHz Celeron D 330, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive, DVD-ROM Drive, CD-RW Drive) The most importance is the CPU your support (it is Celeron D), find any motherboard supports Celeron D newegg.com tigerdirect.com buy.com
- there are two different motherboards that were used in the T2958 The 865 chipset board: http://parts.emachines.com/emachines/Moreinfo.asp?Product_Id=69197 and the 916 chipset board: http://parts.emachines.com/emachines/Moreinfo.asp?Product_Id=69386 You may encouter a problem if you use a motherboard that was not distributed by eMachines. That problem is you probably can't use the Windows disks that came with the original computer. Very often the manufactures use disks to check the BIOS of your board to make sure you are installing WIndows on an actual eMachine, If this is not an issue for you, then any mATX barod will do for you. While it may be more money, it would probably be a good idea if you purchased from eMachines directly from the links above. You might pick up a used Mobo off eBay, but who knows how long it will last. At least from eMachines, you get a new Mobo, CPU, and power supply for $189. If, however you can use the WIndows disks on any old mobo, then get a new one off Newegg.
- If you want to use the eMachine case you'll need to purchase your motherboard from eMachine. They make their case plug that connect to the motherboard proprietary and will not work on a standard motherboard.
