I want to build a gaming machine what is the best motherboard buy?
Hey I want to build a high spec desktop machine... I want to use it for gaming.. what's the best mobo to use? I hear asus ones are good but what models? Also what processor should I use? I also want to preferably have a scart output and built in bluetooth. Many Thanks, Kiran Randhawa Ah and I want to stick a powerful dual core processor in there as well.

- asus are good also look for one with 2pci-e slots so you can SLI 2 nvidia graphics cards i have a AMD Athlon 64 x2 6400 black edition and its great 3.2ghz dual core processor
- Do you know what you are doing when it comes to building a machine and how much money do you want to spend? If you have a budget then you really need to weigh up the all factors including type and amount of RAM and the graphics card that you are going to choose to go in it, also are you going to buy a new gaming keyboard and mouse to use with it and a new monitor with a low m/s response to get better refresh rates and less flicker. If money is no object that you can spec up a really powerful machine for around £2000+ but this is obviously quite a bit of money. give a bit more info and I can help you. Alternatively you could look on www.ebuyer.com as they have everything from cases to mice at really good prices.
- ASUS Striker Extreme but not cheap ...
- I would recommend the 780i EVGA nforce board. It supports 3 Way true 16x16x16 PCIe SLI. 2 of the ports are routed through the Northbridge at PCIe2.0 speeds. And it also supports intels new chipset of 45nm technology setting you up for the next gen line of CPU's On top of all that is the ESA (enthusiast system architecture) Which communicates with other pieces of your computers hardware ( that are ESA enabled) and tells you vital information such as temperatures and fan speeds for everything from a hard drive to a Power supply. Right now i have a 780i on a Q6600 OC to 3.2Ghz, and it was one of the easiest builds ive ever done. The board comes with onboard HiDef audio and up to 10 USB 2.0 slots. For any other information on the board just let me know. FSB is 1333 and the memory is DDR2. 790i is DDR3
- Ok since you didn't state a budget i would spec out a low-mid budget (depends on how low you wanna go) 'Crysis-worthy' gaming machine :P AMD 6400+ Windsor 3.2ghz = $163 Asus M3A 770 AM2+ motherboard = $90 EVGA 512MB 8800GT = $200 Seagate 250GB HDD = $67 Liteon DVD Burner = $25 A Data ddr2 800 4GB (2 x 2) RAMs = $77 Antec 900 casing = $100 Logisys 650W = $65 Vista Home Premium 64 bit = $110 Total = $897, prices off Newegg
- ok I dont really go by brands when it comes to hardware like that, I just go by specs. and what you need to look for is a mother board that supports a good amount of ram wich means lots off dimms and i prefer scsi (skuzzy) hard drives cause they are a lot easier to manage but realy hard to find hard drives that are affordable cause im running a dell poweredge 1300 server with dual pentium 2 stacks and a 80GB master hard drive and 3 40GB slave drives so I have about 200GB of disk space wich is pretty much like endless memory. and each one of my 40GB hard drives ran around $140 a piece but where i build computers and stuff i get alot of discounted parts so i only have about $400 dollars in my whole desktop.so if your going for affordable then ur better off getting a 4 dimm motherboard without the scsi hard drives and with processors, dont even think twice go with pentium. and make sure you have lots of virtual memory, ram, disk space, and also another cool thing to consider is when you pic out the video card, get one with an auxilary output so you can hook your com to a projector or a big screen, but make sure you get a good one cause tvs and moniters are 2 totally diff things and when your video card is hooked up to a tv it will look alot better but with a low mh card it might get kinda blurry and make the words unreadable and also a good audio card helps and maybe some pc surround sound speakers and also if you get a moniter dont get an lcd cause if you arent directly infront of it you cant see the picture and also make sure you get a 2.0 usb hub cause its a hi speed up that allows you to send data through it faster and also you would want a motherboard that is widely compatible cause its a pain when you cant find hardware that fits and is compatible, and on the os i prefer xp professional over anything cause it seems like they mad vista for lil 4 yr olds
