What's the difference between an Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo and Intel Pentium Dual Core?

Which one is better and why? I want to buy a laptop that has Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.1 GHz but my friend told me I should get one with Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo. Which one is better? The one I want is cheaper than the ones I've seen with Intel Pentium 2 Duo.

2. The Core 2 Duo processor is much faster. It outperforms the dual core in almost anything and the battery life isn't much different. I would buy the Core 2 Duo laptop as long as they are similar in the other specs.
