What is the difference between pentium D and intel pentium desktop series?

I need to know because on the sims 3 it says that if you have and intel GMA X3100 graphics chip-set then you need a 2.6GHZ intel Pentium D CPU, But mine is an intel pentium E5200 Dual core @2.50GHZ Can someone help me please much appreciated ...

1. No important difference. 2.50 is obviously slightly slower than 2.60GHz, but it should work. You can even overclock this CPU to the 2.60GHz. if necessary. I know I have an E5200 myself.
2. The Pentium D series were the first dual core processors from Intel.
