What's the difference between an Intel Pentium M and an Intel Centrino CPU, if any?
I'm looking to buy a new laptop and want to understand this. Thanks!

- Intel Pentium M is optimized for Mobile and Palm like devices while the centrino is optimized for portables like laptops and medium sized devices. You can check intel's site for more detail on the differences.
- Centrino is only a branding wherein the Laptop motherboard, CPU(Pentium M) & the wireless card (802.11 b/g std.) are all made by Intel. Contrary to popular belief Centrino is not another type of processor rather a branding by Intel about it's family of processors + wireless cards. The latest thing to join is the Core Duo or Core so the Centrino brand has changed to include both the Pentium M(now known as Core Solo) & Core Duo(two processors) & a new type of motherboard & the same Wireless Card(built in, of course) Of course for the consumer its noteworthy that Cores(Duo is better, of course) are the best you can get currently for your money. Anandtech.com has some in depth articles about these family of processors.
