if i buy a motherboard and pc case separately how do i turn the computer on?

because the the case will have a different on connector?or does the motherboard come with the on button Cable explain if anyone knows what I'm on about.

  1. the buttons in the case have the wires and plugs already in them. the motherboard has the headers on it and you just match them up.

  3. You put the motherboard inside the case.Don't worry, you need a power cable for the power source, which sometimes comes inside the case.
  4. when you buy a case separately they normally come with individual connectors rather than bulk connectors, IE, there will be one for the harddrive light, one for the power button, one for the reset button ect. in the motherboards manual you will find a guide to the connectors, if you don't have a manual sometime abbreviations are written on the motherboard. or go on the manufacturers website and find your model or as a last resort trial and error works here is an image to illustrate what i mean http://img33.imageshack.us/i/11frontpanelinstall37sc.jpg/ http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/85/powerha6.jpg hope that helps put your mind to rest basically what ever you get should work together as the case comes with the connectors as shown and then they plug in to the motherboard the only thing is that sometimes you need to plug them in in a different order on some motherboards PS if you mean the power supply unit the bit that you plug into the wall most are now standardised again just make sure you buy one with the same number of pin connections, normally 20 or 24 pin, if you get a 24 pin connector it will not fit a 20 pin motherboard, as these normally use a 20 pin connector and then a separate 4 pin connector for fans, but most 20 pin power supply units come with a additional 4pin connector that you can attach to make a 24pin unit. or you could just buy an adapter from ebay they are just a few pounds, something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/20-pin-to-24-PSU-ATX-Lead-Cable-Converter-Adapter-New_W0QQitemZ140331896811QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL?hash=item20ac6ecfeb&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 hope this all helps if you need anymore feel free to message me
  5. The case comes with cables, that are marked, imprinter for what they are for - for instance. Power button, reset button, hardware light, speaker, etc. In your motherboard manual, it will explain where you place these particular cables. Also you can go on youtube and look up - build your own PC
  6. What u will need... PSU (Power Supply so u can actually give power to your motherboard).. Say you buy the case, and the motherboard and then put it into the case.. there should be cables running out of the button... Say look at the case u want to buy right now.. the turn on button should have cables at the back of it u cant see.. all you do is plug them into your mobo slots and that's it :)
