Should I stay with my Intel Pentium 4 processor or upgrade?

I am building a gaming computer and someone just gave me an Intel Pentium 4 processor, but I don't know if that is a good cpu. Is it worth keeping? If you know of a better one please leave a link to it.

1. take a dual core processor
2. don't bother keeping the P4. depending on your budget you have the core 2 duo/quad lineup and the core i7. if you want to go with amd, athlon x2/3/4, phenom II series... many choices. any modern dual or quad core processor will out perform the Pentium 4 in almost all cases. chuck the P4. here, processors galore that will outperform your P4. http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=343&name=Processors-Desktops
