Pentium 3s

How do I determine what motherboard to buy based off of the rest of my computers specifications?

My motherboard is dead, and I am looking on Newegg but I am not exactly sure how to tell if a new one will be compatible. I have a P4 processor - 3.0 GHz It's the LGA775 just like you said, thanks

  1. P4 3.0 GHz, hmmm !! depends on the socket the P4 was on.. there are basically 2 sockets that P4 runs on Socket 478 to Socket LGA775... Find out which one is yours and depending on that you can get either of 845, 865, 875, 915, 945 series Intel motherboards or equivalent chipset models..
  2. P4, LGA 775. Newegg has these available. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010200280%201070509908%20107171083&name=Intel%20945%2f955%2f975 Keep in mind only the boards that support FSB of 800mhz will work. Now we move to memory. What type of memory do you currently have? The boards I linked support mostly DDR2 667 to 800. If your memory is of a different speed it will not work.
