Why did intel branded Intel "Pentium dual core" as a strip down verson of Core 2 Duo?
I heard that people think pentium dual core is NetBurst processor and think its Pentium D's replacement, but it Striped down "Core 2 Duo" with L2 to just 1,2 MB L2? It seems very confusing for some people. Why did intel rebrand the strip down to Pentium Dual core when some people get confused with Pentium D?

- Let's put it this way: any new replacement will be better than a Pentium D, as the Pentium D was a god awful processor from the very beginning. It's pipeline being so long, that it would execute much slower, with the godawful heat of the PresHott line to go with it. If you have a Pentium D replace it. Even with a newer Celeron (which the latest model is better than the Pentium D).
- i sometimes think they do this to simply confuse people, so they in effect rebadge their old processers to get them to sell, we had identical laptops come in with different Intel labels, and anyone who was not aware would actually think they were different the labels are that misleading, go figure.
- Less L2 cache
