How do you know what power supply to buy for your motherboard?
I'm planning on buying the Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H 780G Socket AM2+ onboard VGA 8 channel audio mATX Motherboard in order to build a new pc and have found all the components that i need other than the power supply. can anybody guide me on which power supply to purchase or how to identify what power supply i need to buy.

- check the specs on the board to make sure it need a 24pin power connector. Then make sure the PSU you get has a 24pin power connector. Also if you have an off board graphics card make sure you get the right power cords for that.
- Everything on your computer takes power. Get a general idea of what the power requirements are for each item (video, CPU Chip, hard drive) and as long as the total is LOWER Than the total power output of the power supply, you're fine.
- As long as it is a good name brand and you don't plug the monitor into the same power supply, 250-300 watts is good enough. If you do plug the monitor into the power supply, I recommend a good 500 watt supply.
