  1. Centrino is NOT a processor but a proprietary mobile platform with 3 basic elements: 1. An Intel mobile processor (could be single or dual core) 2. Intel chipset 3. Intel wireless chip A NON-Centrino laptop usually lacks the 3rd element because of the use of another brand of wireless chip.
  2. Simply put. Intel Celeron M - Basic Intel Pentium Dual-Core - Premium Intel Core Duo/Core 2 Duo (Centrino Duo) - Ultimate The Pentium Dual-Core is affordable dual-core performance for notebook users while still saving power for extended battery life and great performance. The Intel Core 2 Duo on the other hand with Intel Centrino Duo technology offer superior performance, extended battery life, and is also dual-core.
