Whats the difference between an Intel Celeron chip and an Intel Pentium chip?

- buss speed which is like the gass pedal but pentium is faster but les acurate than a celron long story short if you want to play games get a pentium for decoding or copying get a celron because the data is more acurate and makes it able to record any dvd or game like playstation with no errors so they work and not lock up i use my celron to copy all movies it works flawlessly with anydvd a copy right protection crack
- The L2 Cache Size. The Cache is a very fast chunk of memory that is on the CPU. The Cache is used to hold instructions for the CPU to execute. The larger the Cache size the more instructions are held next to the CPU, thus a faster CPU. The Pentium has more L2 Cache then the Celeron. The Pentium is faster and more expensive.
- a celeron is the low end processors, nothing is worst. the celeron is a budget processor, supposed made only for web surfing and office applications, but they suck at that 2,the celeron is the cutdown version of the pentium 4. i think the current highest clocked celeron is at 2ghz which is slow, and pentium 4 go up to 3.6,and have up to 4x the l2 cache which is very important. also current pentium 4 processors have hyper-threading technology. there is no such thing as accuracy in processors. the celeron will always lose to a pentium 4 in any application, most notably games in which the microscopic l2 cache on the celeron cant keep up. the pentium 4 is the better choice but take a look at the pentium dual cores, they will actually beat the p4 in multy-tasking and modern games. a 2.2 ghz pentium dual core is equal to a 3.96ghz p4 and the pentium dual cores have been known to overclock to 3.2ghz per core which is like a 5.76ghz p4!! however it has a lower cache but its better at gaming. both pentium 4 and celerons are considered outdated and get outperformed by dual and quad cores all the time.the those poor single core processors just dont have the power to keep up. looking at the 1st person that answered it would take forever to encode or decode movies. i dont thibk they can playback hd dvd or bluerays if they can it would run like crap. old dvds are outdated. celerons were built to be cheap to produce and to only be used for web surfing and word processing. i have a pentium dual core and its really good. i can play crysis(most pc demandng game ever) on high settings flawlessly, celerons wont be able to play it at all.having a celeron means you will have to also have a crapy gpu(graphics processing unit) because that slow thing wont be able to run a good 1. if you dont play games then dont worry about a gpu.
