Is a P3 (Aurora, I think) a turbojet aircraft?

Public Comments

  1. Yes, they are turbojets. And some have been around for a long time.
  2. NO. It is a turbo-PROP not a turbo-JET. Turbo JET aircraft do not have propellers! The P-3 is powered by four T56-A-10 or T56-14 Allison turbo props. The "Aurora" is Canadian variant of US Navy P-3 "Orion". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P-3_Orion http://www.lynellen.com/p3orion/ http://www.aerospaceweb.org/aircraft/maritime/p3/
  3. Av8trxx is correct, it's powered by turboprop engines
  4. The Lockheed P3 Orion is a Turbo-prop aircraft, it was also know in the civilian industry as the Electra. It is an awesome aircraft.
  5. yes, I've worked on some.. as old as the 60's P-3 Orion, by the way.
  6. Turboprop! Guaranteed. The difference between a turboprop and jet, is that a small jet engine (Much smaller than a commercial jet) is used to drive a propeller.
