Is there a significant difference between an Intel Pentium D and a Core Duo?
I have the opportunity to purchase a computer installed with a Pentium D 3.0 or I can pay upwards of $100 more to have a Core Duo installed. Is there a significant enough difference between the two models if I plan on playing games like Titan Quest or Hellgate London?

- HUGE difference if you plan on playing games. A core Duo proccessor is necessary if you like to play games and run many applications at once
- I found out the hard way that there is a big difference. I would pay the extra $100. I have a new system that I built myself. I opted for the Pentium D because it was cheaper. Pay the extra you'll be glad you did.
- depends what you're going to be using the computer for... a 3.0 ghz pentium D is by no means a lowsy processor... its going to serve you well for almost anything, so unless you're doing alot of intensive video editing its going to be fine... ddr2 ram is really cheap right now and will only run you about 40$ for 2gb, pair that w\ your 3.0 pentium D and you have a solid machine.
