What is the difference between Pentium M and AMD 64 processors? I've been looking at getting a new computer and the sales reps at these don't know much. I know that they are separate companies that produce processors but I wanted to know what is this difference. My current computer has a Pentium 4 and I'm leaning towards the Pentium but I've also heard that that AMD is just as good.
Is a Pentium M processor equal or better than a Pentium 4? I bought a webcam that recommends a pentium 4 processor. My laptop is a pentium m, but it is fairly new. Does anyone know whether they think it may be compatable? The webcam is a Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000. Got it for only $10 at Circuit City so it would be great of it works out. Bought another for family across country but will return them if they won't work out.
Why are there different versions of Pentium M Centrino CPUs? I have noticed that there are different versions of this CPU of the same clockspeed. Such as different versions for a 1.6ghz Pentium M Centrino. They have different nick names for them I think. What are the differences between different versions? How can I tell which version a computer has before purchasing it?
Can I upgrade my Intel Pentium M Processor? I have an Intel Pentium M Processor that runs at 2.13 GHZ on my laptop. I'm repairing an old 478 pin pentium rig for a friend but it keeps switching off, anyone know why? Basically, it's a right antique, but the mainboard and 430W power supply are brand new. I've tried removing/replacing the 2x512Mb RAM modules and graphics card but every time I switch it on, it powers up then just dies after about 5 seconds. I can only place it down to either a dodgy processor, or possibly a short in the case wiring? Any suggestions (apart from telling my mate to upgrade this crap, haha). Cheers.

Whats the difference between a Pentium IV and a Pentium M? Does the Pentium M exist anyway? I am asking from an LDC and PCs are fairly scarce over here. So please do not laugh at my asking. Help me also know whether buying a clone laptop which are the most available here, will put me at a disadvantage as compared to if I bought otherwise, which of course is too expensive for me at the moment. Do you hva e the exact technical or legal impendiments I will have opened myself to? Thank you.
Can Pentium M ULV processors be switched with regular Pentium M Processors? I am looking into buying a Panasonic Toughbook CF-18 and want to upgrade the processor(it has a 900MHz Pentium M Ultra low voltage). I have looked everywhere online for a 1.2 or 1.3 GHz ULV processor. I have not been able to find one to buy. So if you know where i can buy one, OR if the Original Pentium M or Pentium M LV processors are compatible with this laptop motherboard, your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
